Does my child need experience?
No. Rec is for every child who wants to play, from complete beginners up.
LSC United: for players who want more, by try-out: usually early to mid-June for the next season, with a smaller try-out in January for spring places.
How do we sign up?
When does registration open and close?
Fall 2026 registration closed on August 21, 2026. Spring registration usually opens between late January and mid-February and closes on a Friday in mid- to late March. Fall registration usually closes on a Friday in the second half of August. Fall and spring each have their own form. We post the dates on Register and the club’s Facebook page as soon as they’re set.
We missed the deadline. Can we still join?
Ask us through the club’s Facebook page.
Can my child be on a team with a friend?
You can ask. Special player requests are usually due by the registration deadline. If you’re not sure what counts, ask us through the club’s Facebook page.
Which team will my child be on?
A team from the area you choose, in their age group. The areas are Suttons Bay, Leland, Glen Lake (Maple City), Northport and Elmwood.
LSC United: teams are county-wide; where you live isn’t part of the decision.
Cost
How much does it cost?
Rec: one season (fall or spring) costs $35–$90, depending on age group. The fee table has the amounts for 2024–25 to be confirmed.
LSC United: about $325–$450 for the year (fall and spring together). See Fees & travel.
What if the cost is hard for us?
The club offers discounts and scholarships for families in need. Ask through the club’s Facebook page, and see Fees & financial help.
LSC United: payment plans and help with the fee are available.
Seasons, games and practices
When are the seasons?
Fall: usually starts after Labor Day and runs about 6–7 weeks, ending with the Romp ’n Stomp in the second half of October. Spring: usually starts in mid-April and runs about 7–8 weeks, ending with the Romp ’n Stomp in early June. You can sign up for the full season, fall only or spring only. See how the season usually runs.
LSC United: fall and spring; in the fall, the U14 boys team plays tournaments only, because of middle-school soccer and volleyball. The girls have U14 and U16 teams.
Where do I find our practice and game times?
In your team’s schedule in TeamSnap. Open TeamSnap. Each coach sets their own team’s times, so there’s no single club timetable. If you can’t find yours, ask your coach.
When and where are games?
Once a week, usually on Saturday mornings, at the fields in your own area. Your kickoff time and field are in your team’s schedule; fields and maps are on Fields & Dates.
LSC United: usually two tournaments a season, plus friendly games, and NMSA league games for the older teams.
How often are practices?
Usually one evening a week (U12: one or two), set by each coach. Your coach tells you the days, times and field.
LSC United: United practices come first when they clash with rec. Practice times: one a week for U9, two a week for U10 and older.
What is the Romp ’n Stomp?
The club’s own tournament, held on the last day of each rec season at Myles Kimmerly Park in Maple City: usually the first or second Saturday in June, and the third or fourth Saturday in October. It’s big: more than 530 players in fall 2024, helped by 73 volunteer coaches, referees and parents. More about the Romp ’n Stomp
Is there soccer in the summer?
Soccer Skill Schools runs week-long skills camps for the club each summer, usually one week in Maple City in late July and one in Suttons Bay in early August. See Summer camps.
What if it rains?
Ask your coach. Thunder or lightning always stops play for at least 30 minutes; see Weather & cancellations for the club’s rule.
Gear
What does my child need?
Shin guards, cleats and a water bottle. See Game day.
Where do we get a uniform?
Ask your coach. For U5 players: no uniform; each player gets a T-shirt. See Uniforms.
LSC United: the LSC United uniform (black and gray, with the lime LSC United badge) from the club’s Soccer 2000 store.
Getting involved
Can I help?
Please do. The club runs on parents: we need coaches, team managers, area coordinators, referees and field helpers. See Volunteer.
Can my teenager referee?
Yes, from age 13. The club pays you back for the referee course once you’ve finished it. See Referees for how to get certified.
Are coaches checked?
Yes. Every coach, rec and LSC United, completes the CDC’s HEADS UP concussion training and the U.S. Center for SafeSport training, and passes a background check. LSC United coaches also sign the club’s code of conduct. See Coaches.
What if my child hits their head?
The club follows the CDC’s HEADS UP guidance on concussions. A player who may have a concussion stops playing right away, and doesn’t play again until a health care professional gives written clearance. The CDC’s HEADS UP pages explain the signs to watch for.
Who runs the club?
A volunteer board of parents and community members. See The board.
