Every LSC coach is a volunteer, and most are parents. Thank you. This section collects what you need to give every player a good season.

How the club supports you
Rec coaches are volunteer parents, with guidelines and resources from the club’s board at the start of each season. New to coaching? We’ll help you get started. For help with anything else, get in touch through the club’s Facebook page.
The club follows US Soccer’s Grassroots approach to coaching. A good first step is US Soccer’s free online Introduction to Grassroots Coaching. The rest of the Grassroots courses are on the US Soccer Learning Center, and our LSC United coaches are US Soccer Grassroots certified.
Before you coach
Every coach, rec and LSC United, completes the CDC’s HEADS UP concussion training and the U.S. Center for SafeSport training, and passes a background check. LSC United coaches also sign the club’s code of conduct.
Coaching rec or United
Rec coaches run one area team for a season: one practice a week at a time you choose, and one game a week, usually on Saturday mornings. The focus is fun, touches on the ball and a love of the game.
LSC United coaches run a county-wide competitive team through try-outs, tournaments and, for older teams, NMSA league games. They are volunteers.
Become a coach
We always need more coaches, team managers and referees. See how to volunteer. Teenagers 13 and up can train as referees. The club pays you back for the referee course once you’ve finished it. See Referees.
