About

Volunteer

Leelanau Soccer Club runs on volunteers. Coach a team, manage one, look after fields, help raise money or join the board: here is how to get involved.

If you’d like to see kids across the county playing soccer, we’d love your help.

Ways to help

  • Coach a rec team. You don’t need to have played. Rec coaches are volunteer parents, with guidelines and resources from the club’s board at the start of each season. Every coach completes concussion and SafeSport training and a background check first. See Coaches.
  • Referee rec games. Anyone 13 or older can train. It’s a great job for teenagers: referees are paid for every game. The club pays you back for the referee course once you’ve finished it. See Referees.
  • Be an area coordinator. Each area has an area coordinator who sits on the club’s board, organizes the area’s teams and fields, and is the person local families turn to.
  • Look after the fields. Paint the lines, put up the goals, replace worn nets and get the fields ready before the season and on game days.
  • Manage a team. Help the coach with messages and game days.
  • Help at the Romp ’n Stomp, the club’s end-of-season festival. In fall 2024 it took 73 coaches, referees and parents to run it.
  • Find sponsors and raise funds. See Sponsors.
  • Join the board and help run the club. See The board.
