Purpose
The Mission of the Leelanau Soccer Club is to provide fun, affordable soccer opportunities to kids in our county. The greatest achievement of this mission is through the recreational (“rec”) soccer program (U5-U12). 

LSU United is organized to offer a more competitive but affordable soccer opportunity to players in the “rec” program by providing supplemental tournament experience and additional practice opportunities.  The goal of LSC United is to provide an opportunity for growth and development for players that are more passionate and serious about the game with the intent that player improvement across the county will then improve the quality of play and viability of the rec program.  It was recognized that players that could afford to leave the county were doing so to seek out more competitive play.  

 Philosophy

All participants can and will develop individual and team skills, love of the game, a strong sportsmanship and practice ethic and confidence in themselves and their teammates on (and off) the pitch. Passion to play is the driving force for player development.

Players develop cognitive skills over time.  Expectations must take into account the age and maturity of a player.

Coaches will be trained in small sided games that emphasize age-appropriate touches on the ball for player skill development and improved confidence to make creative on-field decisions. 

Any negative comment directed at an individual players requires a minimum of five positive comments to overcome potential blows to confidence.  At U12 and younger, the golden rule is keep it positive!
