Improve at home

Some of the best soccer players in the world have gotten to where they are by constantly working on their game. Although we have dedicated coaches and a solid curriculum to support your son or daughters growth in soccer, it’s important that they are also taking on extra work outside of practice! Just like homework in school, the more touches they have on the ball, the better they will become. And, it can be a fun family event!

some ways to support player development at home

TALK about Soccer at home

Take an interest in your son/daughter’s love for the game. Ask them about their practices, what they liked, what they didn’t like or struggled with. What they like about their coach, and what they don’t like about their coach. You will be surprised by how much they have to say about the game!

PLAY soccer with your son or daughter

The more touches your son or daughter get on the ball, the more proficient they will be on the field. Developing good soccer technique takes time, patience and practice. Having a good “touch” on the ball takes repetition. Pass, let them shoot on you, play keep-away, and keep it positive and fun! WATCH soccer on T.V.

Whether it’s local college teams, Major League Soccer matches, or international games, soccer is all over our TV stations. We encourage you to watch games with your child, and have them tell you what they see in the games. Check out highlights on YouTube, or go to a local high school game. Part of understanding the game better, is by watching those who have put in the work to get where they are!

“I like playing soccer because I get to be around all my friends. Our team is getting better and it’s fun to win the games. Our coach is really nice and teaches us a lot about how to be better players ”

Romp 'n StomP

Leelanau Soccer Club runs two in-house tournaments each year – one in the fall and one in the spring. It is the perfect culmination to each season of soccer! Romp ‘n Stomp is played at the beautiful Myles-Kimmerly Field in Maple City, Michigan.  Fall 2023 Romp ‘n Stomp will be held October 19, 2024

player centered. Parent friendly.

We are focused on getting kids off the couch, outside and active. Although our goal is centered around player development, we pride ourselves on being a cost/schedule friendly club. Don’t let cost be a reason not to register – contact us about scholarships.
